Body Care for Writers: 1 Session Movement Class, March 22
Saturday, March 22, 11am-12:30 pm Pacific Time
No creature is built to sit in a chair. While the work we do as writers is not necessarily what comes to mind when we think of physical stress, the truth is that the writing life is quite taxing on the body. I know I hear from lots of you about your carpal tunnel, your sciatica, your lower back. I know I hear from those parts of my own body often as well.
So, we built you a movement class. This 90 minute session will incorporate movements and breath work that prioritize joint preparation and soft tissue strength. Bring us your funky back, your twisty fingers, that sharp thing that happens to your wrist. Bring us your attempts a good posture that just made your back hurt more. We got you ❤️💪🏼
This is a free course! My gift to you. Enroll here to be looped into some context for the work we’ll do together, or drop in using this link.
There is no preparation necessary. Please join from a space where you have room to sit, stand, and lie down, ideally on a surface like a rug or yoga mat. If you have yoga blocks and a strap, awesome. A dish towel works well too. Our work is scalable for all bodies and abilities. You do not need any athletic background or interest.
About your facilitators:
Nic Holck is a movement specialist and elite combat coach. He specializes in joint care for both competitive athletes and older active adults, and approaches all his work with bodies from a place of wholeness and wellness first, performance second. You can learn more about his work on Instagram @nicholck_training.
Margo Steines is a writer and educator who spends too much time sitting.
We meet Saturday, March 22 at 11am Pacific for 90 minutes. This is a one time drop in class, but we are open to iterating it if there is interest. Join us!
